Devikins Update 1.3 is just around the corner!
This is our biggest update so far, with many exciting new features, tweaks, and improvements.
To begin with, 1.3 will bring three new features to the game, starting with Rituals.
A Ritual is the name for our NFT Burn Mechanics. Along with the introduction of the Re-incubator, which allows you to revert an Adult Devikin to an Embryo, and the Transplant, wherein you can move the attributes of one Devikin to another, Rituals will also let you Sacrifice Devikin.
Sacrifice is a twist on an old Devikins feature teased in the original whitepaper where players could burn four NFTs to create a new one. This has been changed, and with the new Sacrifice system players will be able to burn four NFTs of the same rarity to have a chance of getting a random NFT of the next rarity. As an example, if you burned four Common NFTs you’d have the chance to spawn a random Uncommon. With Uncommons, you’d have a chance to spawn a Rare, and so on.
Chance, you may ask? What if my Sacrifice fails?
Well, if a player starts a Ritual using an Omulet — a new item being added to the game — the NFTs are safe and aren’t burned, however if no Omulet is used, the NFTs are burned and nothing is generated
A Sacrifice’s success chance is based on the NFTs rarity. A Common sacrifice has a 50% chance at succeeding, Uncommon has 25%, and there is a 10% chance of success with a Rare Sacrifice.
To obtain an Omulet, you’ll have to use the Wicked Well. It may be offered as a reward in later events or as part of M.A.D.
The Wicked Well is a place to attain great drops, with players offering a new in-game consumable, Xaron’s Favour, in exchange for goodies from the well.
The Well works in mysterious ways, and it has three rarity pools (Rare, Mythic and Eldritch). Players are guaranteed a drop from the Eldritch pool after offering ten Favours, but if they get it before then this process resets. You can also follow their progress towards this reward via a bar on the bottom right corner of the screen.
And yes, that means there are now Eldritch items in the game!
Genetic and Limitless Incubators are two of these new items.
The Genetic Incubator guarantees that the offspring’s rarity will be, at minimum, identical to the lowest rarity used in Procreation. That means no more Common offspring from a Mythic pairing.
The Limitless Incubator is the opposite, as it removes the highest rarity cap. What this means is that an Uncommon pairing could result in a Mythic NFT, or even an eldritch.
Besides new Incubators, we’re also adding Eldritch training items. Below is a Swamp Lobster and it offers a whopping 1000% towards Vitality.
With the addition of Eldritch training items we hope to offer more choice to those raising their Devikids, alongside the chance to cut down on time spent maxing them out. You’ll also need them because time is worth more points with our third feature: Competitive Events.
Three Competitive Events are coming to the game: Training, Guild Training, and Guild Void Adventures.
Shortly after we drop Update 1.3, we’re going to be kicking off our first Training Event, where for each attribute you raise training your Devikids, you get a point in the event. At the end of this event, you’ll earn various rewards based on your placement.
Tweaks and Improvements
We’ve added a flag/visual notification to Devikin you haven’t interacted with inside your Roster, so that you can quickly pick out the latest additions to your little family.
To prevent an ongoing issue of chat trolling where players would change their nickname to harass other users, we have added a fee to change your in-game name. So, make sure you have your preferred nickname set before updating to 1.3.
Talking about prevention, we noticed an increasing number of players using Guild Donations to sell incubators which inevitably ended in them being scammed. Because of that we’ve removed incubators from Guild Donations.
Continuing in regards to Guild Donations, we’ve added donation points to the Guild Member screen, so that whenever a member donates an item they get a point, which everyone can see.
Daily Login Rewards and M.A.D
As mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Update 1.3 will revamp M.A.D subscriptions and change them so that they will last for 30 days straight instead of until the end of the month, and with that, there will be no more retroactive item rewards upon subscribing.
Furthermore, due to Daily Login reward issues players have been facing, we’ve made the daily reward claimable instead of being automatic. The first time a player logs in each day they will be welcomed with our brand new Daily Rewards popup
In the case that a player doesn’t see it or skips past the screen, they can reopen it from the notification button on the top bar.
To improve user experience, we have added Item Descriptions which can be drawn up by tapping any item in the game, so now you can check your rewards before deciding to participate in an Adventure or not.
Finally, we’ve made adjustments to many Training Items when it comes to the length of time they’re used for, as well as increased and decreased some of the various side effects. The overall potency of these items has not been changed.
The estimated release date for this update is June 27th, though this is tentative for now.
Thank you for reading, and we hope you’re just as excited as we are for the additions brought to Devikins in our latest update!
